What are my delivery/pick-up options? From time to time we schedule a delivery date in Tulsa, OKC, or McAlester. This means that we will be at a specified location where you may pick up your puppy, and there is no extra charge for this service. These dates vary widely so you should not depend on waiting for a scheduled delivery date. We do tend to visit the McAlester area about every 6 weeks or so. Please check with us to see if we have a delivery date coming up soon in your area.
What if you are not delivering in my area soon? You will need to pick up your puppy at our home, (or in the city of Antlers) or make arrangements with us for delivery at extra cost. We are located about one hour from McAlester, 2 1/2 hours from Tulsa, and 3 hours from OKC (all depending on traffic).
We will provide directions when we make the appointment for you to pick up your puppy. We conduct business at our home by appointment only. We understand that traveling time varies, so we usually make long appointments (for example, "pick up your puppy between 1:00 - 2:00"). Please realize that sometimes we may have several appointments, both at our home and away. So, while we try to be as flexible as we can, it is important that you try to stick as closely as possible to our arranged time--we don't want you to drive quite a distance and then find us away from home. (We once had someone show up 2 hours early for an appointment--thankfully we had just arrived home.)
What else do I need to know about delivery? We DO NOT bring the puppies to you for you simply to look at--this can create several hours of riding and stress for the puppies. We provide pictures on this website, and will answer any questions you may have so that you are able to make a decision about whether you want a particular puppy. We do understand if you would like to look at the puppies personally before purchasing. However, if you choose to do this you will need to visit our home, which we welcome. The delivery service is only for those who have made a definite decision on a puppy. Also, if you choose to use PayPal for payment, please let us know this before delivery. We will email you a request for payment. So that we are able to confirm receipt, payment must be completed prior to our departure for delivery.
Do you require a deposit for local adoptions? Sometimes. We often have several people interested in the same puppy. For this reason, at our discretion, we may request a non-refundable deposit of $200 (amount varies according to price of puppy) to hold your puppy until pickup/delivery. Most people prefer to make their deposit by PayPal.
How does pricing differ if my puppy won't be shipped? Unless noted in the description of the puppy, the price listed includes shipping. You should contact us to find out the local cost of the puppy you are interested in. Generally, but not always, the price will be about $300 less than the price on our puppies page. This will depend on the dog's weight and the current cost of shipping. Always contact us to be sure.
What other differences are there for local adoptions? Crates are not provided. You will need to bring your own crate to transport your puppy in. Generally, the special pricing for local adoptions does not include a care package (though a baggie of food is always provided). In addition, health certificates are not provided, as they are only needed for shipping. Whenever possible, there will be a vet check prior to sale. Although we do recommend taking your new puppy for your own vet check, we do not require this to activate the guarantee. To reflect this, here is the guarantee offered for local adoptions:
